About Me
Last updated on
I’m Prateek Mishra, a frontend-focused software engineer with 9+ years of experience turning messy, real-world requirements into UIs and platforms that hold up in production. My home base is Angular — migrations, performance, tooling, developer experience — and most of that career has been staff-level ownership of frontend platforms rather than single features. Outside of work, this site is where I write about engineering, lifestyle, books, and philosophy.
What I work on now
I’m a Staff Engineer at a fintech SaaS company — the latest step in a 9+ year run across startups, agencies, and enterprise product teams. I own platform modernization for a production Angular application and its shared libraries. Day to day that means major-version upgrades, build-tooling and CI performance, and developer-experience work for the team around me. I also design and run the event-instrumentation pipelines that the analytics org depends on — getting product usage data flowing reliably at real scale, not just in a demo.
Selected achievements
- Led a five-major-version Angular + PrimeNG migration (v16 → v21, TypeScript 4.9 → 5.9) across a production application and two shared libraries — ~70% faster CI builds (~180 runner-hours saved monthly), 79% fewer dependency vulnerabilities, zero production incidents.
- Designed and shipped an event-instrumentation pipeline (ClickHouse-backed) now capturing ~1M interactions/day (~12/sec) across ~95K records, ~5,000 customers, and ~700 accounts tracked daily — first working version delivered to staging in 4 days.
- Drove core parts of a ~39,000-user phased rollout: owned cohort segmentation (lowest-value accounts first, to contain blast radius) and built the adoption dashboard tracking deflections, round-trippers, and throughput.
- Cut production error volume ~91% (295K → ~25K) in one week by owning triage end-to-end, contributing to a project-wide drop from 372K to 161K.
- Closed a known XSS / arbitrary-script-execution vulnerability in PDF rendering by upgrading pdf.js v3 → v4.
- Authored a frontend linting and formatting technical direction doc — an ESLint 9 flat-config migration with hook-based enforcement, grandfathering ~5,655 existing findings so the gate could go live without a code freeze.
- Cut CI build times 30% and hit sub-30-second local serve times by moving a separate codebase off Webpack onto Vite/esbuild, alongside a full Angular v11 → v20 migration and 92% reduction in dependency vulnerabilities.
- Architected an Nx monorepo spanning 50+ shared libraries across 4 Angular applications, cutting code duplication ~30%.
- Replaced a managed real-time infrastructure stack with a custom Socket.IO/Node/MongoDB/Redis build in 7 days, cutting monthly infrastructure cost 45%.
- Migrated a global bank’s mobile app from KnockoutJS/jQuery Mobile to Angular 5 + Ionic 3 in 4.5 months, and cut CI build times 40% along the way.
How I work
- I default to platform thinking: fixing the underlying tooling or architecture problem rather than patching around it, even under deadline pressure.
- I treat instrumentation as part of delivery, not an afterthought — if I can’t measure the impact of a change, I haven’t finished shipping it.
- I make deliberate trade-off calls when business urgency and platform work compete, and I own the second-order cost of deferring the latter.

Writing
On the blog I write about frontend engineering, debugging production issues, build-tooling trade-offs, and framework migrations — mostly things I had to work out the hard way and wished someone had written down first. You can browse all of it on the blog.
Education
B.E. in Computer Science Engineering, 7.8 CGPA with Honours.
