Privacy Policy
Last updated on
This is a self-authored privacy policy for a personal blog, written in plain English. It is not legal advice — if you need a legally binding document, consult a lawyer.
This site (theprateekmishra.com) is a personal blog run by Prateek Mishra. This page explains what data gets collected when you visit, who else sees it, and how you can control it.
What I collect
- 1:1 bookings: if you book a call through my Topmate page, Topmate collects your name, email address, and any notes you add, and shares them with me so we can meet.
- Newsletter: if you subscribe, I collect your email address to send you updates.
- Usage and ads data: like most sites, this one uses Google Analytics and Google AdSense, which collect anonymized usage data (pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser type) and, if you consent, ad-personalization data used to show relevant ads.
I don’t sell your data, and I don’t collect anything beyond what’s listed above.
Who processes it
- Topmate — handles 1:1 call bookings and scheduling.
- Buttondown — handles the newsletter.
- Google Analytics — anonymized traffic analytics.
- Google AdSense — serves ads and may personalize them based on your consent.
- Buy Me a Coffee — powers the optional tipping widget.
Cookies
This site uses a few categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function (e.g. remembering your cookie/consent choice).
- Functionality — small conveniences like remembering a UI preference.
- Analytics — set by Google Analytics to understand how the site is used.
- Advertising — set by Google AdSense to serve and measure ads, and personalize them if you’ve consented.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, a consent banner powered by Google’s certified consent management platform (“Google Funding Choices”) appears on your first visit. It includes a “Manage options” link so you can grant or withdraw consent per category at any time, and analytics and advertising cookies stay blocked until you consent.
Visitors from other regions don’t see the banner, and analytics and advertising cookies are on by default. You can turn off personalized ads at any time in Google’s Ad Settings, and opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Google Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics (measurement ID G-MTVGN92DMF) to understand traffic patterns. IP addresses are anonymized, and data is retained per Google Analytics’ default retention settings. See Google’s Partner Sites policy for details on how Google uses this data.
Google AdSense
This site uses Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-6669270970145111) to display ads. Google and its advertising partners may use third-party ad-serving cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other sites. Learn more at Google’s Ads policy and Partner Sites policy.
IAB TCF v2.2 and your consent choices
This site participates in the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF) v2.2 through Google’s certified consent management platform. This means you can grant or withdraw consent for specific purposes (such as analytics or ad personalization) individually, rather than an all-or-nothing choice, using the “Manage options” link in the consent banner.
Your rights
You can ask me to access, correct, or delete any personal data I hold about you (e.g. your booking details or newsletter subscription). To do so, reach out through any of the options on the Contact page.
If you’re in the EU/UK, these rights broadly mirror the GDPR. If you’re in India, this policy is intended to align with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), 2023. Visitors come from all over the world, so I try to keep this policy readable and reasonable for everyone, rather than narrowly tailored to one jurisdiction.
